Celebrate July 4th with a 5k Run, Parade, and Free Concert & Celebrations in The Healing Garden Hosted by WABA!
Happy Summer!
There is so much to cover this week, so let’s jump right in!
Next week marks the start of July 4th celebrations, and WABA is playing a big part.
Starting at 9:00 AM
Join us for the 5K run (3.1 miles) and walk through beautiful Alameda. This event kicks off just before the historic 4th of July Parade and benefits the Midway Shelter of Alameda. We are working closely with the City to ensure a safe and fun experience for both runners and spectators. More info here.
At 10:00 AM
Alameda’s 4th of July Parade begins on Park Street. This parade is the longest in the nation, spanning 3.3 miles and featuring more than 170 entries, including the WestAlameda Business Association, and 2,500 participants. The Parade draws over 60,000 spectators and showcases a diverse array of Bay Area residents, including equestrians, dance troupes, floats, antique cars, community groups, and marching bands from both the community and local schools.
Post-Parade Celebrations Hosted by WABA
After the Run and Parade, join us for another Pop-Up event in the Healing Garden from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. We have artists and food vendors, and live music from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Hat Trick will deliver a powerful set of classic rock tunes, spanning the 1970s to the 1990s. From Queen to Prince to Green Day, these musicians are sure to get everyone up and dancing. Click here for more information.
As you wait for the live entertainment, stroll along Webster and visit our sponsors and partners: @emabracalmeda, @thirftykitty, @featheredoutlaw, @califiataqueria, @pacificbinball, @firesidelounge, or walk a little further west along the beach.

Support the Alameda Educational Foundation
After your West End fun, support the Alameda Educational Foundation’s fundraiser outside of Trabocco at the South Shore Center. They’ll feature the renowned local Beatles tribute band, The Sun Kings. The festival includes face painting, glitter tattoos, a stilt performer, and free patriotic sunglasses for kids. More info here.
Zero Waste Implementation Plan Meeting
After all the July 4th fun, the Public Works Department wants your feedback on the next phase of their Zero Waste Implementation Plan. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Stafford Community Meeting Room (Alameda Free Library), 1550 Oak Street, Alameda.
Thanks so much, and we look forward to seeing you every day, but especially on July 4th.
