Don't miss the West is Best final event happening this Sunday!

This Sunday, September 29th, marks the final event in our West is Best Summer Series! Headlined by the Four Stooges, the day will also feature a vintage market and talented local artisans showcasing their crafts and culinary skills. TheFireside Lounge, your favorite neighborhood bar, will be on-site crafting cocktails, and Calafia Taqueria will be serving up delicious tacos. Vendors open at 3 p.m., with live music from 4 to 6 p.m. The weather is expected to be perfect and we look forward to celebrating the end of summer with you!

As we transition into fall and the holiday season, WABA is planning exciting events, including distributing Halloween candy to local merchants and businesses. We’re thrilled to partner again with Grocery Outlet (730 Buena Vista Ave) to provide candy for Halloween and can attest to them having the best prices on the island.

Speaking of unbeatable prices, have you visited Discount City (1440 Webster St) recently? I stopped by last week to pick up supplies for an upcoming event and walked away with some great deals on holiday decor, spices, and kitchen essentials. This place is unbelievable!

While strolling down Webster Street, I caught some buzz about Signal Coffee’s (1536 Webster St) unsweetened pumpkin latte. I couldn’t resist popping in and pairing it with a fresh Boichik Bagel. The combination was the perfect boost to fuel my day!

Starting next week, this newsletter will feature occasional guest columnists, kicking off with the West End's own Gene Kahane. Gene, the creative mind behind the Alameda Food Bank Players, will discuss their upcoming production of King Lear and share some insights—maybe even a few secrets—about the West End.

These columns are designed to offer our businesses, stakeholders, and community members fresh perspectives on the West End. Ranging from 300 to 500 words, they will highlight projects, businesses, and ideas that benefit or support activities in the area, rather than promoting any single business. If you’re interested in being a guest columnist, please send your ideas to me at elissa@westalamedabusiness.com.

And don’t forget, if you're a business in our district, you’re eligible for benefits, including marketing opportunities in this newsletter and online. Check out your benefits here and let us know how we can assist you.

I look forward to seeing you on the 29th or around Webster!
