This week, I had the honor of strolling Webster Street with our esteemed Mayor, Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft. As a relative newcomer to Alameda, it was truly fascinating for me to delve into the rich history of our district and witness firsthand how Webster Street has continually transformed and reinvented itself over the years. During our walk, we addressed some of the challenges facing our district, celebrated a few of our successes, and exchanged ideas about our plans for the future. I'm incredibly grateful that Mayor Ashcraft took the time and showed genuine interest in what's happening on the West End.
There's been a lot of excitement buzzing around a couple of new businesses in the district. One standout is Mango and Mint (1606 Webster St). I've heard rave reviews about their fast-casual, authentic Vietnamese cuisine, and from what my sources tell me, it's nothing short of outstanding. Grab yourself a Bánh Mì and pop next door to check out the new Coven of Stitches (1602 Webster St), a charming shop dedicated to fiber crafting and community. It's positively delightful, and the folks inside always seem to be having a blast.
Speaking of good times, did you know that Webster is home to The Pacific Pinball Museum (1510 Webster St)? What could be more fun than testing your skills on one of their over 100 pinball machines spanning from the 1940s to the present day? Be sure to also explore their hand-painted murals, vintage jukeboxes, and rotating exhibits. The West End is truly fortunate to have one of America's favorite pastimes right at its heart. Plus, the museum offers group rates and is perfect for parties and celebrations for all ages.
